We recently sat down with Joelle Grunblatt, Chief Operating Officer, and Erez Sharoni, Vice President of Sales, to explore the story behind AI-RGUS, its evolution, and its vision for the future.  

The Genesis of AI-RGUS

AI-RGUS began as a project to address a specific challenge at Duke University. Joelle Grunblatt shared the origins: “AI-RGUS was initially developed as an AI software solution for security camera maintenance at Duke University. Staff spent hours daily reviewing camera footage, searching for outages, and keeping security tight. With AI-RGUS, they reduced the time spent checking their security system health from 4-5 hours to several minutes.”  

Today, AI-RGUS supports over 100,000 cameras and has expanded its capabilities to provide comprehensive visibility into the operation and cybersecurity of security systems.

From Duke University to Industry Leader

The experience at Duke University profoundly influenced AI-RGUS’s direction. Joelle explained, “Originally created to address Duke University’s own security system management challenges, it gave us insight into the needs of a large security operation. We further learned existing system management practices so that we can develop our software to fit seamlessly into a security operation and provide value from the first day.”  

This early insight allowed AI-RGUS to create a solution that not only enhances security but also offers a proactive approach to maintenance. Joelle added, “AI-RGUS is an opportunity for security professionals to be proactive in their security camera maintenance. Additionally, managed service providers can leverage AI-RGUS to earn Recurring Monthly Revenue (RMR) for their business.”

Joelle elaborated, “AI-RGUS automatically alerts of any problems, including cameras down, unclear views, blurry views, blocked views, tilted or changed scenes, missing recordings, and time stamp correctness. When you buy a security camera system, you expect it to work when you need it and to have evidence after any incidents. AI-RGUS enables you to be proactive about maintenance and assists compliance efforts through performance reports.”

Joelle shared, “AI-RGUS is continuously adding new integrations and device capabilities to be functional across most (or all) security systems. We have ongoing development of robust reporting tools so that security teams have the data needed to maintain a reliable security system.”  

Erez also emphasized the role of AI in the future of security: “AI is helpful for automating tasks, and it’s getting increasingly good at efficiently completing tasks. At AI-RGUS, we’re prioritizing seamless integration to provide organizations with smarter, faster, and more reliable surveillance management. Using AI for problem discovery frees up security staff to focus on addressing existing security challenges.”  

What’s Next for AI-RGUS?

The company is set to make waves at this year’s ISC West show. Erez revealed, “At ISC West, AI-RGUS is debuting our capability to be a full-service security system maintenance solution. We have expanded our integrations list, and we bring plenty of resources to learn about offering AI-RGUS as a managed service to your customers.”
